GARFIELD ANIMAL HOSPITAL ....... Historically Speaking
After building his first Veterinary Hospital in Hollydale, South of Imperial highway on Garfield Ave (Now Hollydale Animal Hospital), Dr Crandall bought a house on the corner of Marcelle and Garfield Ave in Paramount and converted it into Garfield Animal Hospital around 1960. He sold it to Dr Thomas Lloyd, Dr Michael Paster and Dr Robert Spalding and moved south in Long Beach opening another hospital and finally retired in Sacramento after selling the later.
Dr Spalding and Dr Paster practiced together and in 1970 constructed a new building after an unfortunate fire. Dr Paster moved to the City of Carson leaving Dr Spalding the charge of Garfield Animal Hospital. It was in 1983 when Dr Muhammad Ashiq bought this practice. Since Dr Ashiq took over, the hospital building has been completely renovated and outside appearance blends with the community.
Dr Ashiq offered more services and also got involved into the local community services. He has been a very much part of the Paramount Chamber, Paramount Rotary Club and Paramount Soroptimist Club. Not only he has sponsored many scholarships for the local high school graduates but also given lectures in the local schools about veterinary medicine to the young aspiring students. At the same time, progressive leadership of Paramount City has transformed the City completely into a proudly developed residential as well as Internationally recognized business friendly community. Paramount is proud to be The Place where the idea of Internationally recognized the "Zamboni" Ice Machine for the ICE SKATING or ICE HOCKEY originated (many Olympic athletes trained and competed here) and where the famous major Aerospace Forging industry plants are located.
