Heart Failure

Older pets develop heart failure either from weakening of heart valves mostly from infection and fluid builds up in the chest or abdomen. Some pets are born with heart defects.

Common symptoms are are coughing, weakness, no energy, difficulty in breathing, fainting, tummy bulge or congestion.

Regular pet examination is important for early detection of heart disease to treat or dietary management but there is no cure except transplant of new heart valves.
